Nor Cal Rock Racing just wrapped up its 4th season of mad-dashing and metal-mashing rock racing! Combining rock racing and rock crawling into one extreme 2.5 mile short course at Prairie City SVRA in Rancho Cordova California, drivers were challenged to come out each month to see what promoter John Goodby had in store for them, with new courses that have included an 85 foot table top, a few whoops, and plenty of nasty rock piles.
The Sportsman class offered some pretty defined looking rigs! Terrance Jones knew that picking his way through the rocks was the key to finishing all three laps, earning him a sweet victory run for the spectators.
BFG sponsored driver, Tom Wayes came out to play at the series finale. Against the rest of the pro-class drivers in a six lap moto, he managed to pull off the win, by sacrificing a left rear tire on lap three while passing in the rocks.
New to NCRR, Alex Hardaway didn’t hesitate to take the top spot at the first two races of the season, but engine issues halted his streak in the final round. Despite a 3rd place finish, Alex still earned the series championship crown.
Now the biggest draw to the NCRR series this year was the coveted King of the Hammers (KOH) qualifying spot. A KOH starting position means you have the chance to line up against the biggest & fastest names in Ultra4 racing and show the world who you are. Harold Fijman, who was tied with Mike Smith for that spot going into the final race, but after racing hard and finishing second behind only Wayes, has guaranteed himself an invitation to the one and only King of the Hammers race! High five Harold!
See you next year, when Goodby and the crew do it all over again.
