Getting Cloaked

There are several aftermarket manufacturers producing very good products for those of us with a passion for off-roading. And unless you’re building a one-off custom rig, you can buy just about anything you need to make your rig work for you.

There are a few companies that are a cut above the rest. One of those is MetalCloak, who manufacture Jeep fenders, bumpers, armor, and just recently came out with a revolutionary shock absorber that you should check out on their website.

We used the all aluminum version of the MetalCloak fender on Project Recycle, and just installed the “Overline” steel version with aluminum fender wells on The Wendy Project.

The beauty of the MetalCloak fender is that they are not “one-size-fits-all”. They are available in aluminum or steel; arched tubes or flat tubes; a removable comp-style rub rail, and removable flares up to eight inches wide depending on your platform.

The fender wells come pre-assembled, and are pre-drilled to locate all of the factory accessories that are fastened to your OEM fenders.

The fender well is cut out for the factory shock mounts, we modified ours to accommodate the coil-over suspension on our YJ

The comp-style rub rail is secured with two fasteners, and is easily removed to install flares if you need them for street duty.

Check out www.metalcloak.com to see all of the available fender options. You’ll also find loads of technical information on their line of fenders, as well as other products offered by MetalCloak.
