I LOVE my new tow rig! My Ford F350 Super Duty has served me well so far and has hauled a couple of rigs around locally, but when it came to driving it every single day it just still didn’t have the looks that I wanted and I knew that some new tires and wheels would solve that problem.
The stock aluminum wheels looked fine, but I wanted something a little more aggressive, not to mention that the all terrain tires had me wishing for some more traction in the Tennessee mud a few times.
The answer came with a set of Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrains and a set of 18×9 Pro Comp aluminum wheels in a cool black powder coat.
The Pro Comp 325/60R18 tires are a “tri-ply” sidewall tire specifically designed for use on full size trucks and tow rigs like this F350. With a load range of “E” and maximum capacity of 3525lbs the tires were perfect for a tow rig that will spend some serious time hauling.
So with the CRAWLmaro on the gooseneck I decided that the best “test” for these tires was to spend some time with them on the highway….some serious time.
I dropped a dime into the tread to act as a guide for the amount of wear that would happen during a roundtrip from Nashville to Pomona California, and back.
So after over 4700 miles of driving the truck had no issues, and more importantly the tires worked great. With very little tread noise on the highway and a great “feel” while driving the most important test was going to be the wear on the tires.
With the dime back in the tread I was happily surprised to see that there was virtually no wear on the tires front or rear. And best of all the tread was still flat across the face and no obvious signs of excessive wear or tread movement, meaning these tires should last a long time under my tow rig.
